Panther Fever

August 15th, 2008 · No Comments

Living in Iceland has not in any way diminished my love for the Carolina Panthers(NFL) or Jake Delhomme. What I love about the Panthers and August is that they have not broken my heart yet. Just like all the years that have come before I am excited with hope that my Panthers will win the Super Bowl. Jake has a bionic arm now, so we are pretty much in store for the greatest season in Panthers history!jake-delhomme-1.jpg

August 14th

August 13th, 2008 · 2 Comments

On Friday the 18th of April 2008 at 10:45 am, while I was sitting before the Lord and listening, I heard the following: On August 14 something disastrous in the natural involving fire and water was going to happen. I then heard On the first Tuesday that followed 30 days from this disastrous event, a man and/or his ministry would be validated by this prior event. I know it sounds strange. It sounds strange to me, but that is what I heard. I have spent the the 4 months since hearing this, fasting and praying for more clarity and have not received much more than the original word. Tomorrow is the 14th of August, and it will be the day the Lord hath made like all those that proceeded it. God I pray that your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

It Takes Time

August 13th, 2008 · No Comments

Last night when I got home I sunk into my chair and started to talk to God.  I sat in the darkness of our bedroom feeling sorry for myself and feeling far from God. I sit there listening to God and I felt a desperate need for God. A hunger for intimacy. This brought a realization that being off my schedule has left me wanting. At this point I felt that I would listen to some music so I flipped open my laptop and opened itunes and looked at my music. I saw an album there that I have not yet listened to. So I opened the album folder and just clicked a random song. This is not my normal way of listening to music. I normally play an album from the beginning. So I notice the song is over 8 minutes long. The first 4 minutes or so of the song were filled with music only. No lyrics. Then around 4 and half minutes the voice kicks in and the lyrics rang through my being like very voice of God was speaking to me. The song is ´I will Possess Your Heart´ by Death Cab for Cutie and the lyrics go something like this:

How I wish you could see the potential, the potential of you and me

It´s like a book elegantly bound, but in a language that you can´t read — just yet

You gotta spend some time — love,  you gotta spend some time with me

And I know that you´ll find — love, I will possess your heart.

I will possess your heart

There are days when outside your window, I see my reflection as I slowly pass

And I long for this mirrored perspective, when we´ll be lovers, lovers at last

You gotta spend some time — love,  you gotta spend some time with me

And I know that you´ll find — love, I will possess your heart.

I will possess your heart

You reject my advances and desperate pleas

I won´t let you, let me down so easily, so easily

You gotta spend some time — love,  you gotta spend some time with me

And I know that you´ll find — love, I will possess your heart.

I will possess your heart

It is all about time. Find what a man pursues and you will find the mans heart. I am so thankful that it does not take as long these days to sense the slightest change in my relationship with God. More importantly I am thankful that He loves me so much and desires to possess my heart.

One Week

August 11th, 2008 · No Comments

If I could have just one week in a summer house in the country side I could get so much writing done.

More Cold Water

August 10th, 2008 · No Comments

Yesterday I went white water rafting. It was for a friends bachalor party. Here in Iceland the friends of the groom show up unexpectadly and kidnap him. Then you take him around and make him do silly things. We skipped the silly things part and took our friend Hjalti to the country side and went rafting down the Hvítá river. Hvítá is a glacial river that flows from the Glacier Langjökull. This is the same river that flows over Gullfoss. Gullfoss is the waterfall that we almost lost Jake Farrell on this past winter. :-)  The water was very cold and thanks to Baldur (pictured below in the wetsuit) I spent a good part of my day floating in an arctic river. We were also able to jump off a rock about 26 feet high. That was awesome! It was an amazing day with amazing people.  img_3553-2resized.JPG 38356c0344b7c3-2resized.jpg a076f0f6e234314-2resized.jpg dce0c86e7aba3272-2resized.jpg img_3540-2resized.JPG

More Water Fun

August 7th, 2008 · No Comments

I went with my friend Boi (pronounced Bowie) last night to see the new Mummy film. The movie was OK but the trip home was more fun. We were just about to arrive at my house when we saw these kids standing on the side of a round about begging people to splash them with their cars. We did not splash them the first time by, but as we were driving I said to Boi we have to go back. So we did and since we were coming from the other direction they did not see us coming so we surprised them and soaked them at the same time. They loved it. So we splashed them a few more times and then I got out and took a video of it. Hopefully it captures the fun we had last night.

Cold Cold Water

August 5th, 2008 · No Comments

Katie and I went to Nauthólsvík this morning. Nauthólsvík is the swimming pool down by the ocean. It has a hotpot that dumps into the ocean. We sat in the luke warm hot pot and then finally made the plunge into the icy water of the North Atlantic. It was cold. Very very cold!!!! It was good though. Nauthólsvík is the site of a World World II machine gun bunker built by the US Marines. Below are pictures of me in one of the bunkers, the beach with the hotpot, and the few the proud the US Marines.  Another wonderful day in Iceland. 05082008-2resized.jpg  05082008014-2resized.jpg img_3291-2resized.jpg
